![]() Levels can get pretty bland and repetitive at times, sidequest or not. There aren’t enough enemy types to support a game this long and the level designers were clearly struggling to make this many areas. I actually love the addition of sidequests but there’s just too many levels here. This game is significantly longer than 1 & 2 and is loaded with sidequests, each of which offer a ~20 minute standalone level. ![]() Next up, Dead Space 3 seems to be more concerned with quantity over quality. This stuff isn't well-implemented, they were clearly chasing industry trends, it clearly detracts from the horror, and it’s a mystery that they learned nothing from RE5 and RE6, which made the exact same mistakes. The addition of human enemies, standard zombies, and cover-shooting similarly land with a thud. The intro city level and love triangle feel like EA cranked the stupid-dial up to 11. At the surface level, the focus on co-op and Michael Bay storytelling were obviously the wrong direction to go in. Unfortunately, many of its elements just don’t land or don’t work when combined with other elements. ![]() It has some insanely cool levels, the combat is fun as always, and it offers a satisfying ending to Isaac’s quest. 15h Played Dead Space 3 is a good game that made some well-intentioned decisions that unfortunately derail the entire game. ![]()
